HONORABLE RECANT

There he goes, misunderstood;
hated, stereotyped, usually mocked;
There she goes, confused, neglected,
sympathized with, and consoled.

There he goes, running away;
to nowhere, life’s astray.
Here, she wants to stay;
don’t push her away, don’t alienate.

There they are loath;
wounded by time and fate;
there they are in-like but lost;
Guilty to know its worth.

ONE NEED NOT BE A WRITER

One need not be a writer to write for readers, who are learned to comprehend.
Thoughts, put into words, written, read, perceived freely.
Superfluity noticed; even deficiency won’t get away.
Scholar rationalizes, criticizes for ambiguity.
Welcomes absurdity,
Contentedly sees fault while desperately seeks perfection.

One need not be a writer to write for readers, who understand to live
A prose of complexity can be grasped with ease
For when reasons are foreign, sensibility works,
Experiences cla… Continue

THE KIND OF GIRL, I’m not.

I am the girl of every man’s fantasy.
A glare from me can put them on fire.
I am their curvy bikini goddess
One touch and I’ll leave them powerless.

I am the star of every night’s party
I do my hair and make up tastefully.
I love making my sorority girls envy,
I don’t care if I’m easy as long as I’m catchy.

I am every traveler’s favorite rest stop,
I offer tour and free-guilt sex to anyone with a map.
I am every city swinger’s reserved date
I am always available, even if they do the call late.… Continue

How to drive in Miami.

Driving in Miami

Interstate 95
Stop signs are summarily ignored on a regular basis.
Airport Expressway
People double park in the middle of a busy thoroughfare.
Palmetto Expressway
Turn signals on most cars are used less often than the airbags.
Florida’s Turnpike
That guy in the far right hand lane?
Don’t be surprised when he makes a left turn across four lanes right in front of you.
Don Shula Expressway
And don’t even get me started on people swerving over medi

I refute "traditional" Haiku as an English language art form on principle.

I like the flow and sound of this. It almost reads like Japanese poetry. If you are so inclined, do come join us over at the Daily Haiku (a group here). We love to play off each other's words.

No problem. And, my advice is never Gospel. Never take anyone's advice as Gospel, even if they are suggesting you write in English for an English audience. I would, however, suggest again experimenting with punctuation. Maybe not in this finalized...

I am open to criticism otherwise I wouldn't have posted this here. When I was writing this I used "formed" to indicate that those fingers have frozen in this position quite some time ago. But I see your point. And I will change it to "form", fits...

if you are open to criticism (which every thinking creature should be), I would say the piece is nice. I very, very, very seldom find someone's self expression in verse to be a bad thing - but I'm young. Sorry for the sarcastic tone, it's not at y...

Thanks Jim. Many don't take it as such and accuse me often of riding a high horse. When I'm published in the Paris Review, they can say that, but I'm just a poet like all of of here. Ironically, if I had been published in the Paris Review, people ...

I wouldn't say your critiques are heavy handed. You have the eye of someone who wants to see the best possible result on the page.
